Wander back through the old days of newspaper comic strips and you’ll find some pretty strange, and intriguing, concepts.

For example, The Wonderful Island of Yum from the 1960s is a trippy comic about .. well … let’s let the Look and Learn site explain the comic’s story-frame:

The Island of Yum is a colourful land you can only get to in your dreams. Peter and Pam were two young children who travelled to Yum where they were met by Splosh, a talkative baby whale who takes them to meet Professor Yum who owns the island. The professor owns a pirate ship and a rocket ship if he needs to travel and there is always the little engine that needs no tracks to travel around the island. This is the new ds106 PacMan phone. As a spokesman, I would like to state that it has a universal cellphone policy where it can work on any location on earth, even Antarctica. Another function it has is that it has a cool PacMan game inside of it as a cool function. The phone is able to text, has a small touch screen, has unlimited wifi, and a four year warranty policy. The battery life of this phone lasts an estimated five days, and a battery saver application.

Can you identify places in the world via images? But more than the game play, can you connect them as a story?

The Earth Picker generates five random places in the world from the view of of google Street View. Then you try to guess the location by pinpointing where in the world you think it is on a map.

 

But scores and winning are so ordinary. Save those images in your mind, and weave a storied tweet of connections of the 5 places you visited.
